Biography
 IMG 1333a small
After graduating from Oxford University with a Biology degree, I went on to complete my Ph. D. in wheat genetics at the John Innes Centre in Norwich. During my time there I became interested in Science Communication, and worked on the team that prepared and hosted exhibitions for the Chelsea Show, the Royal Show, and the annual Cereals event.

I joined Cambridge University Botanic Garden in 2004 and became the Head of Education there in 2006, managing the Education Programme until 2012. My work included overseeing the Garden’s schools education programme, developing interpretation for the planting displays, designing educational trails, writing and delivering adult education botany courses, and training the Garden’s Guides. Through this range of activities I gained experience working with people of many ages and from diverse backgrounds.

I was also involved with Cambridge University’s Widening Participation programme, which worked towards encouraging talented pupils whose families had not been to university, to apply to Cambridge.
I have been working freelance since 2014, when I founded All About Plants.
