Schools
My work in Primary Schools centres upon encouraging children to discover their own passion for plant life. I offer teachers curriculum-focused, creative ideas for their plant-related teaching, from Early Years to KS2, through a range of flexible services:
Bespoke INSET training – on anything plant-related;
Outdoor and indoor teaching sessions / activities for pupils;
Whole-school assemblies;
Seasonal observational trails around your school site or immediate area, for repeated use;
Fresh ideas for lesson planning;
Whole-school Science Week activities;
Evolution workshop (2hrs) specifically for Year 6 pupils;
Using your grounds for plant identification
The 2014 National Curriculum places a strong emphasis on plants, and involves plant identification. I can identify the wild flowers, trees and shrubs in your school grounds, and produce a tailor-made collection of curriculum-targeted activities that will enable you to use these plants in your teaching throughout the year.
